BlueHost versus GoDaddy Web Hosting Packages PDF Print E-mail

Blue HostI’ve been hearing a lot from people saying that BlueHost is one of the best web hosting services on the Internet. Well judging from the price of their web hosting services, they should be darn good and nothing lesser. On the other hand, although GoDaddy fits my standards, I’ve heard of complaints such as lack of customer support and etc..

Let’s compare both of these plans and see which one offer better value for  money. I can see that BlueHost is competing at the high end web hosting packages thus I shall compare GoDaddy’s Premium Plan over BlueHost’s.

A quick glance at what they are offering:

Whenever you see a web host advertising on their front pageNever believe the price that they are offering! BlueHost advertised $6.95 for their web hosting packages. But the truth lies far ahead – exactly 2 years ahead whereby you’ll need to subscribe to 2 years web hosting services from them in order to enjoy the price. It wouldn’t be economical if you just take 3 months hosting as there is a setup fees. Take a look below

GoDaddy min 1 month subscription: $14.99

BlueHost min 3 months subscription: $9.95 X 3 months + $30 setup = $59.85/3months = $19.95 per month!

That’s a whooping $19.95 per month! It’s pretty pricey don’t you think. That’s $5 bucks higher when compared to GoDaddy. However if you take at least 6 months hosting it’s more economical. Take a look below

BlueHost min 6 months subscription: $8.95 X 6 months + $30 setup = $83.70/6months = $13.95 per month

It’s getting pretty reasonable right? But from what I see, you won’t get ‘true’ value if you don’t subscribe to their 2 years plan. Although it might cost you a bomb, but it’s affordable and you won’t have to worry about paying your web host for the next 2 years.

If you do plan to subscribe their 2 years plan, BlueHost has the edge. Not only they offer higher transfer rate, they also have bigger storage – exactly 100GB bigger (300GB). That’s a whole lot of storage! Second thing I like about BlueHost is that you’ll get more FTP accounts compared to GoDaddy.

I find both of these web hosts offering competitive FREE software. These software are useful and should you shop for a web host always consider the free software provided. Luckily both of these web host offer Joomla – one of my favorite.

For better value over money and if you are looking for a web host which is at the high end, you might want to consider BlueHost seriously. They offer better value and services over the money that you have invested. However, most of these values only kick in when you subscribe for at least 2 years.

GoDaddy 2 years plan = $251.78

BlueHost 2 years plan = $166.80

That’s an $84.98 savings with better web hosting specs! As for me, I don’t have such high end web hosting needs. I have settled for the Deluxe package and I still have ample of bandwidth as well as storage space. I might need a better web host if I am hosting 20 domains on a single web hosting account.

Nice comparison, (you probably know I'm a bluehost fan :p). One other point is that Google ranks sites higher if they have a domain name that's registered for longer than 2 years, so thats another on Bluehost's side!
