 If you notice, I’m actually using Joomla as my blogging platform. It’s a little different from WordPress and so far, I’m loving it. There are lots of people who asked me, why Joomla?!
Well the answer is simple – I just love the functionality – as simple as that. It’s really flexible to expand and you have control over everything. Don’t get me wrong – WordPress is also a fantastic blogging platform with great plugins to enhance its functionality.
One downside about Joomla is the template. Usually free templates which you find online – they barely work properly with Joomla. Some of the common problems I find when implementing a new template is
1. Problem with the table’s alignment whereby you’ll notice your text appearing out of the box
2. Template won’t appear as what you have previewed prior to download (random missing images)
3. You can’t even install the template in your Joomla!
4. Some of the sections like user1, user2, etc, are not functioning
5. Free templates usually give you a plain design unlike paid ones which costs $50 and above but has excellent designs and extra functionality
There is no practical solution to the free templates – it’s FREE anyway right? The only thing that you can do is either
1. Subscribe to a template website for a minimum $50 for 3 months or a year and get professionally designed templates
OR
2. Try each and every template – whether it works properly or not
