Batteries require electricity input in order to recharge its cells. Without an electricity input, there’s no way to recharge the battery cell, as clearly, batteries aren’t self-charging, up until now! It looks like researchers at Georgia Tech have come up with a self-recharging system in their self-charging battery project.

The team replaced the divider between the electrodes with polyvinylidene difluoride film, which has the ability to produce charges inside the gap, whenever pressure is applied. The researchers appended the battery under a shoe sole, and whenever the battery is stepped on, it recharges a little. Of course, the research isn’t going for full production yet, but if the researchers manage to increase the efficiency, I’m sure all future batteries are self-charging by nature!
