In the latest bid, New York Post has opted to block iPad access to their news portal. And according to speculators, it seems the New York Post’s move is seen as an attempt to get iPad owners to subscribe to their news services, in which prospective readers can sign up for the subscription for $6.99 per month.

And as for desktop or phone users, you can still access the New York Post through your ordinary browser. It seems that News Corp. is strangling web access for selected group of news reader. Surely, getting iPad owners to pay for the news subscription can be a viable move, as iPad owners are on the rise – but then again, web-based news subscriptions are on a declining trend, perhaps News Corp. is banking on a failed model?
