Microsoft is obsesses in perfecting their visual interfaces, whereby apparently, the software juggernaut has just recently purchased Canesta, which specializes in manufacturing 3D CMOS camera chips. In fact, Canesta president and CEO Jim Spare recently mentioned that the takeover would see that more products and devices would adopt their technology.

Surely, the Microsoft Kinect is a revolutionary piece of hardware, whereby gamers can use visual commands to control their toons for their favorite games. And with Microsoft taking over Canesta, this would mean that Microsoft would now have a cost-advantage when producing their Kinects, which literally means cheaper devices for consumers.
