Well, it’s not everyday that the world’s largest microprocessor manufacturer disclosed that one of their processor won’t run Linux properly – but apparently, Intel did issue such a statement. Intel has just recently announced that their latest Clover Trail-based Atom microprocessors will have issues when running Linux, which places future Penguin-powered PCs at a huge disadvantage.
It looks like Intel would rather you run Windows 8 on the respective Atom processor. Intel has already tuned both Atom and the Microsoft OS to work seamlessly and perfectly. Nevertheless, the Linux disadvantage on the Clover-Trail processor might be somewhat significant, as the microprocessor giant might be shoving open source OS projects aside, while taking on the juggernauts in the industry.
