Barely a year ago, Google dropped a cool $200 million to acquire Slide, in which their plans then was to incorporate Slide into their gigantic social media circle. And not even a year after the acquisition, it seems Google might be pulling the plug on Slide, whereby the social apps unit will be ultimately dissolved, and Slide’s 100 employees will be shifted to other divisions on Google, mainly to YouTube.

Of course, a spokesperson from Google has already confirmed their plans to shutter Slide, and the social apps that entail, such as Disco, SuperPoke Pets, and Photovine, will be gradually phased out in the next couple of months. And as for Slide’s founder, Max Levchin, he disclosed that he will be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. But surely, with $200 million in hand, I’m pretty sure Max Levchin is an extremely happy man indeed.
