Users looking for a feature-packed security suite that won’t degrade PC performance should seriously consider Panda Global Protection 2012.
Global Security 2012 is the flagship of Panda’s security products aimed at the home and small office user market. It includes all the features offered in Panda Antivirus 2012 and Internet Security 2012, along with PC optimization tools, file encryption, and a file shredding feature.
Unique to Global Protection 2012 (versus the Antivirus and Internet Security products) are Panda’s Tune Up, File Encryption, and File Shredding features. Click the Optimize performance link in the main console to access the Clean-up, Schedule and Defragment tools. These are conveniently included in Global Protection 2012, but they’re essentially the same utilities you already have in Windows Disk Cleanup, Task Scheduler and Disk Defragmenter. The file encryption and shredding features are easy to use once Global Protection has been installed. Simply right-click on any file and select the Panda Secure Vault option to encrypt, decrypt, or erase.
Panda Global Protection 2012 is designed for Microsoft Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32- and 64-bit) and Windows XP (32-bit). Hardware requirements include a Pentium 300 megahertz (MHz) or faster; 128 MB without TruPrevent or 512 MB with TruPrevent (1 GB recommended) of memory and a minimum of 265 MB free space on your hard disk.
Note: TruPrevent is the Panda technology that detects emerging threats, which means even better protection.
Panda Global Protection 2012 is an excellent option if you’re looking for a comprehensive PC security suite with all the bells and whistles. For users seeking a more basic set of features, Panda Internet Security 2012 might be a better (less expensive) option.
