New Orleans was ‘spared’ from total destruction from Hurricane Gustav as wind speeds reduced drastically. I remember when Hurricane Katrina ripped through the city years back which brought much destruction to the United States.
One known factor which contributes to such horrendous hurricanes is global warming. We hear reports from the TV and newspaper telling us the adverse effects which is attributed to global warming but yet we chose to close our eyes and ears ignoring the impeding danger which lurks ahead. I on the other hand, would like to give credit to Al Gore’s efforts in creating a global awareness on global warming – hopefully someone would have the guts like him to do something about this.
Reports have stated that the city’s sewer system was damaged but hospitals were still functional with its skeleton crews and backup power.
Let’s hope that the death toll would be low for this Hurricane.
