Chinese New Year where Mahjong Kaki's are Born! PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 19 February 2007
Angpao!Chinese New Year was a blast! For those who are new to this celebration, every year Chinese from all over the world celebrate this day for more than 1 week to welcome a new year with full of prosperity and peace. Red packets or ‘angpaos’ as we call it are distributed by married family members to those who haven’t. Minimum $2 and for wealthier family it can go up to $1000 per packet.

It’s also a time where I play a game of tiles or rather known as ‘mahjong’ with my friends. Minimum bets are $0.10 to $0.20 – don’t under estimate this wager, you can loose up to $4 a game and I've got personal experience of loosing more than $30! I’ve played before $0.20 to $0.40 and won almost $50! For those who are new, I recommend that you play $0.01 to $0.02 that way at most throughout the game you can loose not more than $10 – Yes 1 cent and 2 cents can even make you loose $10 bucks!

Visiting friend’s house will commence in the next few days and we have a custom to eat ‘mixed fish’ or ‘lou sang’ during Chinese New Year for better business and wealth in the future.

Mahjong set
Typical 4 player game. I can play 3 & 4 player game.

I haven’t put my hands on firecrackers for a looonggg looooooooooong time. Maybe I should.

Alas, it’s time to get back to updating DotMySpot.com. Over the past few days, I’ve been optimizing the site’s loading speed. I’ve noticed that it’s pretty slow when it is loading. I saved the entire front page and it was over 400kb in size! I downsized graphics by removing MyBlogLog and SpicyPage. It will still appear under any BlogYourBlog section. Other icons from web directories have also been shifted under BlogYourBlog category.

Secondly, I’ve decided to change the banner – I’ve received criticisms from forums saying that it’s

1. Atrocious – terrible or horrible
2. Doesn’t suit the site
3. No meaning or rather doesn’t show what the site is doing

I can say some of these criticisms are rather ‘distasteful’ or plain vulgar and with the intention of creating a verbal attack. All I can say that ‘SOME’ of these forum admins or moderators can be a PAIN in the ASS and a SORE in the BUTT. Your mom simply DIDN’T TEACH YOU MANNERS. What happen to being courteous, polite and at least have some manners when talking to another person? I’m a human as well you know. Reminds me that everybody is born as a critique.

Anyway I think the new banner suits the site. Now you will remember that

DotMySpot.com = MAKE MONEY ONLINE
DotMySpot.com = SEO
DotMySpot.com = WEB DEVELOPMENT

Enjoy!
